Meet the Doctor

Chaim Szachtel, MD

Dr. Szachtel is a double board-certified diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). He sees children, adolescents, and adults in NY and NJ via telehealth and also offers in-person appointments. He treats a wide variety of conditions including Depressive Disorders, Anxiety Disorders, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, Traumatic Stress Disorders, Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, and Oppositional Defiant Disorder. Dr. Szachtel takes the time to understand each patient's unique life circumstances and works collaboratively not only with his patients but with their schools, therapists, and medical providers, as needed. 

TRAINING

Dr. Szachtel graduated from Yeshiva University (YU) with his bachelor's degree in biology before receiving his medical degree at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine (AECOM). Dr. Szachtel then completed his residency in Psychiatry at Montefiore Medical Center and his fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the Zucker Hillside Hospital of Northwell Health, where he was selected to serve as a chief fellow for the program.

CONFERENCES & AWARDS

 Dr. Szachtel has presented his clinical research at several national conferences including the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP) and American Association of Directors of Psychiatric Residency Training (AADPRT). Dr. Szachtel has received awards from YU, AECOM, Montefiore Medical Center, and from AACAP.
